About the Festival

The York Spring Festival of New Music is run by the thriving York Concert Series at the University of York. In 2008 it was handed to a student committee, and after a hugely successful 2009 festival, it was left in their hands.

The festival continues to widen its audience by bringing the best national and international musicians to the area, whilst also promoting the enormous local talent. The festival fits into York's profile as a 'city of festivals' and through its varied and high-quality programme, enriches the cultural life of the region.

We are keen to widen the audience further, and encourage everyone to take the great opportunity that the festival provides to see and hear some of the best music being made today. New Music is vital to the longevity of classical music, so come and see the future being made first-hand at our concerts!
